Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2009
The Tuxedo Cat

Stand up your computer for a night to hang out at a real live show with real friends, real music and real animation.

The status update is that actual friends are having more fun.  Bright, youthful creators ZACK ADAMS (Fresh from a success run at The Adelaide Fringe Festival and who was recently chosen amongst only four Australian acts to perform at the 2009 New York Fringe Festival) and Michelle "BAGGAS" Baginski (who would perform at your Mum's fringe festival) join forces this year to bring you an intimate evening of music, laughter, funny stories, love, loss, friendship and doodles.

Doodles tell the story of Zak and Baggi, imaginary friends growing up together who start to think they might be too old for each other.  As they learn to live with their own selves and the idea of growing up, they realise that their friendship might mean more than even they expected.

The show features guitar-driven music, live drawing, animation, storytelling and a sense of whimsy.

Zack Adams (Elevator, Awkward, A Complete History Of Zack Adams) and Baggas (78% Honesty) have appeared in their own festival productions as well as in Laughapoolooza and 23 Positions in a One-Night Stand.

Before the internet, one had to invent imaginary friends to play with.  Take yourself back to yesteryear when true friendship meant a play in the joyous, dirty sandpit of life and an ACTUAL poke in the eye. Don't be a loner, interact and come see the show.

This was my first ever full length solo show. Set in Zack's kitchen, it tells the story of how Zack got to where he is...or isn't today. I am very proud of this little show, it's treated my well, I hope we meet again.

Ever since he first appeared in the year two Nativity play, Zack Adams knew he was destined for greater things. But through a series of strange events involving Dancers, Darncers, Drama Schools, Dodgy Airlines, Auditions, Fenders, Funerals, Foreign Countries, Big cities, Cheap Laughs, Stand-up Comedy and Reality TV; he slowly learns that being a super-famous actor is actually going to be really hard work.

"Fame is a harsh mistress. It can do strange things to people. It can very quickly change them, it can warp their personality, it can alter their perception of reality, and it can even, on very rare occasions, get them stabbed in the face by an imaginary unicorn. For me, that's where I draw the line. "
- Zack Adams
It finally happened. After years of being a struggling actor, Perth actor/comedian Zack Adams has finally hit the big time. He is now a big, big star. People love him and he has everything he thought he ever wanted; money, success, popularity, fame and an audience to perform to. But on the opening night of his highly-anticipated second solo show, with legions of loyal, devoted fans waiting in the theatre, the star is no-where to be found.

They all begin to fear the worst, has he been kidnapped? Is he dead? Has he got stage fright? Did he crash his limo? Why hasn't he called? Where is Zack Adams?

Zack Adams is trapped, in an Elevator. And with only one hour to make his big performance, he must travel down ten floors and along the way he finds himself dealing with far more than he bargained for and learns that there may be more to life than success.

ZACK IS BACK! Zack Adams returns to Melbourne for his third Comedy Festival hot on the heels of a debut season at The Adelaide Fringe Festival. Awkward is a look at all the not-quite-right-and-slightly-uncomfortable moments from Zack's tales of Life, Love and Career (from the time he wet his pants on stage during the year two nativity play to the time he accidentally told a girl he wanted to go swimming in her face to his time travelling exploits in the year 2018). Using musical comedy, puppetry, slapstick, stand-up, theatre and even inappropriate mime, Zack attempts to uncover what it is that makes him so damn AWKWARD.
